This past Tuesday, I attended Simply Sensational 2, a benefit for Pride Films and Plays, which is co-producing Beautiful Thing with Glitterati Productions.  Simply Sensational 2 was just that: simply sensational.

After an open bar reception in the lobby at Stage 773, we were moved into the performance space where some of Chicago’s best talent took the stage.  Cast members of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Avenue Q, Sunday in the Park with George, and Smokey Joe’s Café all performed a number from their show.  The stand-out performer of the night, in my opinion, was Heidi Kettenring from Chicago Shakespeare’s Jeff-recommended production of Sunday in the Park with George. Kettenring’s voice and stage presence was just amazing.

I always get excited when I am asked to attend a theatre event, for charity or otherwise.  Due to the nature of the theatre industry with people either rehearsing or performing in a show, I don’t get a chance to attend many theatre events.  So I was glad I had the chance to catch up with the many actors, designers, and stage managers whom I don’t get to see often enough.

I had planned to post a bunch of photos from the event, but most of them turned out really blurry.  Next time I will bring a better camera.

Until next time, have a beautiful day!
